What's in the name?
As Product & Innovation Specialist, you’re part of the R&D team based in Mechelen. In this role you will work in partnership with R&D team members in Mechelen as well as Technical Services, Operations (Germany) and external parties.
The key responsibilities of the role include the following:
- Coordinate product and formulation development of PVB resins and film
- Conduct research to continuously improve product formulation or performance properties towards emerging customer and environmental needs
- Coordinate efforts to explore early stage product development work
- Support the submission of IP protection resulting from product development efforts
- Design test protocols for new developments
- Design experiments on a pilot plant scale
- Prepare research reports and develop test protocols
- Work in close collaboration with lab technicians to conduct studies in a timely and successful manner
- Remain up to date on latest developments in the interlayer business for laminated glass
- Gather relevant competitive intelligence on new development in the laminated glass business
- Become our leading expert on the chemistry of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and its impact on the final laminated safety glass performance
Do I get what it takes?
As Innovation and Product Specialist, you have following added values:
- PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering/Material Science/Chemistry
- Experience with PVB synthesis and/or PVOH (polyvinyl alcohol)
- Experience in polymer processing and formulation
- Knowledge of laminated safety glass
- Strong interest in innovation and application development
- Maintains a network towards Universities and Technical Institutes
- Team player with Leadership skills
- Experience in conducting research projects with autonomy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Results-oriented with high level of analytical skills
- Very good organizational skills and strong track record of use of Stage Gate or project management
- Languages: Fluency in English, oral & written
- Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficiency are a must
- Can work independently, precisely, and time-consciously
- Takes initiatives where needed
- Willing to relocate to Belgium
The working location will be the R&D facility in our center of competence in Mechelen, Belgium with the possibility to visit our manufacturing site in Germany by your start. You will be reporting to the Technology Manager.
